I wanted a TCL Q6510 but you have to plug the rear speakers into the subwoofer and people were not impressed with the sound. I thought of the Sony HT-s40r and almost bought it but you have to plug the soundbar itself into the subwoofer and then the surround speakers into the preamp that had to be plugged in...not ideal.
The Hi-Sense is powerful and adaptable and worth the money. I wanted the TCL because I have a tcl TV and I was worried they wouldn't pair well. No problem. Plug 1 HDMI into the HDMIArc or Hdmi Earc port and the tcl controller works fine. Now you need the HiSense remote for special EQ and surround sound effects. TCL can do some of those but when you want to really control the sound just pick up the Hi Sense remote, very simple. We have an open kitchen and living room that is about 25x20 and it gets pretty loud. Rear speakers: decent sound for movies and if you set the sports mode for football they make it feel immersive...but if you want music and normal TV shows to really use them don't buy this system. The best thing about the rear speakers is that I just put them on furniture in the general area behind us and they just plugged in and paired without any hassle. You can really put them anywhere.
The point - for non-audiophiles who like good sound for movies and games and great sports sound on Sunday afternoons, these are the best I've found.
I bought another name brand one but I didn't really like it so I gave it away. I'm very happy with the sound. This is just a personal opinion. I bought the first Samsung one and then got a Sony one and I was disappointed with how they worked; I was really impressed. Still love it
The system does not connect via ARC which is why I spent the extra money. My TV has the capability but no sound so I had to use optical. The bass is not strong at all. Interestingly, when I turn the volume up (at least 20) and go to other rooms, the bass sounds good, but sitting in the living room with the system, the bass is poor even with the bass turned up to the highest, only 5 levels. Also, my Dish Network Joey remote will not pair with the volume control.
So far so good. I'll update later.
I just received this soundbar and connected it right away. The volume was loud, but after a few seconds, I heard some static. I changed channels and streaming services a few times to see if it was the app or the TV, but it wasn't. After the static went away, it sounded like the speaker was in the box, and then the sound just kept cutting out.
